Profile package count is incorrect: shows 11 packages while API and Packages tab report 26 public packages #209580

GitHub profile counters (like repositories, stars, and packages) are handled by a background caching and indexing service separate from the API, which is why your profile header is out of sync with the actual count returned by the REST API and your Packages tab. Because this is a backend cache indexing issue on GitHub's side rather than something you can fix from your account settings, the counter usually updates automatically on its own once GitHub's background worker re-indexes your profile stats—though this can sometimes take a few days or weeks. If the count remains incorrect and you want to force a refresh, you can usually trigger a stats re-index by making a minor change to your public profile or activity (such as temporarily updating your profile bio, creating/deleting a minor test release, or pushing a new commit to a public repository). If that doesn't trigger a background sync, you can report it directly to GitHub support |

Hi GitHub team,
I’m seeing an inconsistency in the package count displayed on my GitHub profile.
My profile header shows:
Packages 11However:
visibility: public;I verified the packages using:
Current distribution:
Visibility:
Expected result:
Actual result:
Profile:
rodri-oliveira-devBecause the API, Packages tab, and package visibility all agree on 26 public packages, this appears to be a stale or incorrectly indexed package count in the profile header.
I also found a similar report involving an inconsistent package count:

Could you please check whether the profile package counter needs to be reindexed or refreshed for my account?
Thanks.
