test: add unit tests for DeleteQueue and _confirm_delete (delete.py coverage 18% → 37%) - #108
The delete module had no tests, and deleting stuff is kind of the one thing you really don't want to break, so I started there.
Added tests/test_delete_queue.py with 15 tests. Coverage for delete.py goes from 18% to 37%. Only tests, nothing else changed.
DeleteQueue:
empty / not empty
add_uri and add_uris
adding the same URL twice keeps just one
sorted_queue() puts the deepest URL first (I add them in mixed order so it actually has to sort)
_path_depth, with and without a trailing slash
execute() calls _delete_list once, with the right order, key, force=True and manifest_context. _delete_list is faked, so don't worry, nothing actually gets deleted :)
_confirm_delete:
y, YES, s, c, and the full words skip and cancel
a wrong answer first and then a right one, to check it asks again
input is faked, so nobody has to sit there typing
I skipped the parts that talk to the server for now. Happy to do those with mocks in another PR if that helps.
This one doesn't depend on #105, so either can go first.
The pull request adds tests for DeleteQueue state, URI deduplication and ordering, execution arguments, path-depth counting, and _confirm_delete responses.
Changes: DeleteQueue behavior

Summary
Queue contents and execution tests/test_delete_queue.py
Tests cover empty and populated queue state, URI deduplication, deepest-first ordering, path-depth counting, and the arguments passed to _delete_list.
This test-only change is mergeable. Asserting that execution delegates exactly once would provide a small additional safeguard but is not required before merging.

Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description covers the change well. It states the new tests file, the 15 test cases and the coverage change from 18% to 37%. It lists the tested behaviors and the test results. It also marks the Housekeeping type and the checklist items. The template's 'Description' and 'Related Issues' sections are present, and the 'Related Issues' section says none. Two items are not fully met. The 'I have commented my code' box is unchecked, which is reasonable for test-only changes, and the description does not mention documentation. The description also says 15 tests, while the PR objectives say 13 tests and 211 passed, while the description says 213 passed. These counts conflict and should be corrected or explained. Overall the description is mostly complete.

Assert that is_not_empty() returns True after adding a URI.
test_add_uri_makes_queue_not_empty checks only is_empty(). is_empty() reads the queue directly and does not call is_not_empty(). A regression in is_not_empty() therefore does not fail this test.
The only is_not_empty() assertion, in test_new_queue_is_empty, covers an empty queue. If is_not_empty() returned False for a populated queue, no test in this file would fail. The gate at databusclient/api/delete.py:335 would then skip queue.execute(), so queued deletions would not run.

Review comment at @tests/test_delete_queue.py at line 14:
Add an assertion to test_add_uri_makes_queue_not_empty that verifies
is_not_empty() returns True after adding a URI, while preserving the existing
is_empty() assertion.
The test builds DeleteQueue("fake-key") with no context. The fake fake_delete_list accepts manifest_context but does not record it. Removing the forwarding from execute() would leave this test passing. Deletions queued through execute() would then produce no manifest entries, and the regression would go unnoticed.
Pass a sentinel object through the constructor and assert that the fake receives the same object:

Review comment at @tests/test_delete_queue.py at line 68:
Update test_execute_deletes_deepest_first to construct DeleteQueue with a
sentinel manifest_context, record the manifest_context argument in
fake_delete_list, and assert the received object is the same sentinel. Preserve
the existing URI order, key, and force assertions.
Cover the full-word skip and cancel inputs in the confirmation tests.

Cover the full-word skip and cancel inputs in the confirmation tests.
_confirm_delete accepts skip and cancel as well as s and c. The current tests supply only s and c. A regression in the full-word mappings would not fail the suite.
Parametrize the skip and cancel tests so that each runs with both the abbreviation and the full word.

Review comment at @tests/test_delete_queue.py at line 124:
The confirmation tests cover only the abbreviated inputs, leaving the full-word
mappings untested. Update the tests for _confirm_delete so the skip and cancel
cases each run with both their abbreviation and full-word input, preserving the
expected result for each.

Fixed all three: test 2 now checks is_not_empty() too, the execute() test checks that manifest_context gets passed through, and I added tests for typing the full words “skip” and “cancel”. 15 tests now, all passing.

Follow-up Comments
Assert the deletelist call count in the execute test.
71-71: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Low value
Assert the _delete_list call count in the execute test.
fake_delete_list overwrites the calls dict on every call, so the test records only the last call. If execute() called _delete_list twice with the same arguments, the ordering and key assertions would still pass. Count the calls and assert that the count is 1.

Review comment at @tests/test_delete_queue.py at line 71:
Update the execute test’s fake_delete_list stub to count invocations, then
assert after q.execute() that _delete_list was called exactly once. Preserve the
existing argument-recording and assertions.
